Second-grade students have weekly homework to complete. Homework is differentiated, based on student needs, assessments (formal and informal), and observations.

Blue Homework Folders go out each Monday and are returned every day. On Friday, Homework Folders stay at school and yellow Friday Folders go home and are returned the following Wednesday.

Weekly items found in blue Homework Folders:

• Spelling List
• Math Practice
• Fluency Practice (not all students receive this)
• Monthly Reading Log/Calendar

Weekly items found in green Friday Folders:

• Important forms (some may require signatures)
• Completed student work

All students are expected to read each night for 15-20 minutes. This can be done independently, or with a family member.

• Each night a student reads, a parent or adult will initial the day their student reads on his/her Reading Log/Calendar.
• Every Friday, Mrs. Keller and Mrs. Leo will check the calendars to see who was able to read 5/7 days and distribute rewards accordingly.
• When students finish a book at home, they are to record it on the back of their monthly calendar reading log.
• Reading Calendars are submitted at the end of the month.
